Jared’s diverse background spans communications, marketing, journalism, association relations, retail and non-profit sector experience, all of which serve his current client roster well.

Immediately prior to joining the StarToplin team, he advised and freelanced for Brand Connections and the Child Advocacy 360 News Network Foundation, both located in New York City. Podcast recaps, advertorials and article summaries were among Jared’s written contributions to the respective websites. He also provided editorial support and online consulting for CEOs and communications staff at both organizations.

Jared also previously served as a writer and editor at Washington, D.C., -based SmartBrief, where he produced daily e-mail newsletters covering a wide array of topics. Clients included the United Nations, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Fidelity and the National Retail Federation. Jared searched the online news universe with a fine-tooth comb, meeting tight morning deadlines and making editorial placement decisions. He also tracked readership, flagged hot-button issues and led special project development for his association partners and the SmartBrief team.

Early in his career, Jared spent time at Burson-Marsteller and Youth Service America. In addition to preparing press releases and coordinating development initiatives, Jared helped a Washington/Baltimore regional group create its official bid document for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. He also generated communications materials surrounding National Youth Service Day, coordinated and conducted evaluations of volunteer program grant applicants and performed media monitoring duties.

Jared earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Wake Forest University with a concentration in journalism and media studies. He also served as the Sports Editor of the student-run newspaper, The Old Gold and Black.
